Love Lives in the Little Things

September 20, 2026

September always makes me think about love.

Maybe it's because my anniversary falls this month. Maybe it's because as the seasons begin to shift, I'm reminded once again that life moves quickly and that the people we share it with matter more than anything else.

When we think about love, we often picture the big moments. The wedding day. The romantic getaway. The flowers. The grand gestures.

Those moments are beautiful, but I've come to believe that the strongest kind of love isn't built in the highlights. It's built in the ordinary days.

It's the cup of coffee waiting for you in the morning.

The text that says, "Thinking about you."

The friend who checks in.

The person who sits beside you during a difficult appointment.

The partner who knows exactly when you need encouragement and when you simply need someone to listen.

Love isn't just something we feel. It's something we do.

Over the years, I've learned that some of the most meaningful expressions of love are also the easiest to overlook. They're woven into routines and habits. They happen so quietly that we sometimes forget to notice them at all.

For me, love has often shown up in the form of consistency. It's the person who keeps showing up. The one who walks beside you through uncertainty, change, disappointment, celebration, and everything in between.

It's easy to celebrate love when life is going according to plan. The real test comes when life becomes messy, unpredictable, or difficult. That's when love reveals its depth.

Not through perfection.

Through presence.

I've discovered that love doesn't need to be loud to be powerful.

Sometimes it looks like sitting together on a balcony watching the sunset.

Sometimes it's sharing a laugh over something completely ridiculous.

Sometimes it's simply knowing you don't have to carry everything by yourself.

Those moments may seem small, but they're often the ones we remember most.

The truth is that our lives are made up far more of ordinary Tuesdays than extraordinary milestones. If we're waiting for the big moments to appreciate the people we love, we'll miss much of the beauty that's right in front of us.

This September, as I celebrate another anniversary and reflect on the people who have enriched my life, I'm reminded that love lives in the little things.

The small acts of kindness.

The quiet acts of service.

The daily choices to show up, care, listen, and stay connected.

Those things may not make headlines, but they make a life.

And when we pause long enough to notice them, we realize they were never little at all.
