An Invitation to Savor Life’s Simple Pleasures

July arrives with sunshine on its shoulders and an open invitation to savor life’s simple pleasures. It’s the perfect time to slow down and seek out those everyday moments of joy—the kind that don’t need a special occasion. Maybe it’s buying yourself a bright bouquet just because it makes you smile. Or turning up your favorite song and dancing barefoot in the kitchen like no one’s watching. This month, let’s celebrate the little sparks of happiness that make life feel light, playful, and beautifully alive.

Somewhere along the way, many of us started waiting for permission to feel joy.

We saved it for vacations, birthdays, weekends—those “someday” moments. But what if joy didn’t need a reason? What if it could show up in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon with a cup of iced coffee in hand and the sun on your face?

Joy isn’t always grand or loud. Sometimes it’s in the unexpected—like finding the perfect peach at the farmer’s market, catching fireflies after dinner, or laughing so hard you snort. (We’ve all been there.) It’s in letting yourself be fully present, even just for a minute, with whatever makes your heart feel light.

So this month, I’m giving you full permission to be delightfully indulgent. Wear the bright dress. Eat dessert first. Take the long way home just because the view is prettier. Let July be your reminder that you don’t need a reason to do the things that make you feel alive—you just need to say yes.

This month, try starting a little joy list—a running note on your phone or a sticky note on the fridge. Jot down the small things that make you smile: a song that lifts your mood, a treat you love, a spot in your neighborhood that always feels peaceful. Then, make it a point to actually do one joyful thing each day. It doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be yours.

Joy doesn’t wait. And neither should you.
